Air cushions

Compressed air cushions are used in the areas:

• Conveying technology (transverse conveyors, corner transfer units, short-lift adjustments)
• Installation construction (clamps, presses, bridging)
• Positioning (adjusting, lifting, displacing)

Advantages against pneumatic cylinders:

• Low system pressure required
• Smooth strokes – no tearing off momentum
• Thanks to the large seating area great power transmission is possible, respectively heavy loads can be moved

Example for the application of air cushions

In the example shown here, the compressed-air cushion is used for an indirect clamping operation. The advantage in this application especially is in the high clamping force with evenly-delayed adjustment of the clamping jaws, which also provides a high level of safety for the operators.
